From the experience that I had, I find myself struggling to identify something that I liked about online teaching. While practising to navigate the different screens on the system made it seem easy to conduct an online teaching class but I battled to navigate with confidence. However I do think it is possible for me to like and enjoy teaching online with better planning and a website like quizizz https://quizizz.com or kahoot https://kahoot.com to make the lesson more engaging. I can’t really say there were new skills learnt just that I needed to be more confident and to be able to adjust to an online teaching environment. In a face to face class environment I believe it is easier to manage expectations.
What I would do differently is design a lesson by where learners are actively involved by creating a quiz online and the learners could log in to answer questions. The lesson guarantees full participation from all learners. I would have added more practical examples which would also allow the students to contribute to the lesson or topic. The online teaching tools were lacking for my online lesson. The learners had to “raise” their hand in order answer a question, instead of asking questions from a power point presentation, the whole activity could have been done as an online quiz. Online teaching is more about enhancing the learning experience through the use of technology which in turn promotes optimal learning.
This experience has developed me for teaching in a school by highlighting that teaching and learning does not always require worksheets; there are easier, fun ways to deliver maximum teaching. Online teaching highlights how one can be creative when teaching in a face to face class environment. This experience has taught me to be always be prepared for the unexpected.
A fun lesson Yandisa. 😊
Thank you for your honest reflection. You face many struggles during the online lesson and you were very nervous. Despite all, you managed to deliver an interactive lesson. You were attentive to the learners and ensure everyone participated. Yes I agree including a Kahoot or Quizze could have increased learner interactivity. Another activity you could have added was to your first picture you shared- you could have discussed the characteristics of the different shapes, it similarities and differences.
Overall thank you for all your effort

Hello Yandisa,
First off I want to say Well Done!!! I know that everything went against you, but you did not give up! trying to navigate this new experience was difficult for us all and really well done for pushing through. Im sure that the next time that you would have to do it, that it will go much better. You made sure that everyone was engaging even with all of the technical issues. I really enjoyed your lesson.

Hello Yandisa❤️
As I understand that you did not necessarily enjoy this online teaching experience, I do have to comment about the fact that you were attentive towards us that did attend. We all had our struggles, however, you did continue to try and never gave up.
Your lesson was fun and informative. You tried your best to attend to all questions and raised hands.
The more we practise these online sessions, the more confident we will become.
Well done Yandisa, you are going to make a fun and awesome teacher one day!
